Oddly converging events seed doubt in previous certainty; I fondle my fear, slap it soundly, watch it pout to its room... then fly.
But at night I lie sleepless, the pages of my life arrange themselves, begin to coalesce; the cover emerges from the mist...
Sleepy, distant shadows slip from my brain, gaze at me with hollow, unrepentant eyes. Suspicious, bored, longing to be wasted by sunlight
tiny projectiles of darkness glinter quietly, then chatter escapes, building, ascending to a wailing cry of ego
I laugh as they implode in self-importance. The remnants flail quietly against my breasts, my arms, then drift off, searching new dens, restlessly tumbling, seeking cobwebbier minds.
I gather what’s left in my small soft hands, rub into my skin; there is no residue, just a tint of musk that slithers into my soul.
Morning slips in my bed, gentle hands caress me awake, whispering secrets half-remembered from dreams, her voice tinged with birdsong.
Listen to the rain-drenched, dripping morning: cars splashing, birds a twittering machine, flowers pushing up with a belief of sunshine.

:) Another 'stone and blood' poet, my favorite!! (That's what one of my profs called women who wrote lyrically with nice images...) I was considered one too, sigh... I love the image of gathering those abstracts in your hands...
No, no.. the term was endemic to this professor. ;) I found it kinda funny. Guys were supposed to be of the Iron John man mode.... Girls like that 'beauty-lyrical' stuff. Or whatever...even though he totally disregarded (oh don't get me started!) It was a compliment from me, no worries! :)
Oh, you have beautiful expressions! Great, and go for it!
I think you painted a beautiful picture and painted it well. I loved the whole thing and all the parts, but I kept being drawn to
Morning slips in my bed, gentle hands caress me awake, whispering secrets half-remembered from dreams, her voice tinged with birdsong.
Not a particular fan of internet poetry but this works for me - well done and welcome to hubpages!
Brilliant Kelsey! A gift to all who read it :)
